Zac began making mixtapes at th
e age of 9 with a Holiday cassette
recorder, a small hand-held microphone and crackling little AM radio –
his pre-pubescent voice introducing each song. Most of the income from
his successive paper routes went into vinyl and soon his record
collection grew from “Here Come The Monkees” and “Electric Ladyland”
to include such diverse talents as White Noise and Edgar Froese. Soon
Zac was spinning records anywhere his friends would gather, using his
eclectic tastes to entertain and educate his growing audience. Zac
came to Radio Cora in 1974 and hosted the Whirling Dervish Radio
Program on Sunday afternoons for 3 years before moving to Wednesday
nights to host the Cora Show on the newly re-christened Radio Radio.
Then life happened and Zac disappeared from the airwaves for more than
26 years, all the while remaining an ardent listener of Radio Radio.
After a chance encounter with old friends in Calgary’s Night Gallery
Cabaret, Zac returned to Radio Radio in 2003(? or 2004?) with a new
program – Defaultworld Radio. Zac currently lives someplace far away
where he continues to produce radio programs and take on the odd DJ gig.
